Minnesota is well known for its vast array of services and supports available to people who have disabilities. While this reputation is well deserved, the service system can be intimidating to people who aren’t familiar with it because of the different kinds of services, eligibility criteria, funding streams and rules.
Funding for the various services is often a combination of Federal, State, County or School District dollars. Some services require a fee or premium payment. Make sure you understand what this fee is before you accept services.
As you explore service options, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Even those who work daily with the system may not know everything about it. If you have further questions as you proceed, feel free to contact Arc Minnesota or the local Arc chapter nearest you.
